MARS - The Bringer Of War

More info…

“Mars - The Bringer Of War”
Arrangement 2008 by ROB ASTOR
Composed by Gustav Holst
From the Forthcoming Album AD ASTRA

Often called the most aggressive piece of music ever written, “Mars - The Bringer Of War” was written at the onset of World War I, the most devastating and bloody war at the point in history. The music reflects the juggernaut of the war machine, marching along, crushing everything in its path while building up the panic and fear of the era.

The version I’ve recorded not only takes the intensity up to a whole new level of aggression, the three movements build on themselves until, at the end of the piece, you feel like you’ve been hit by a steamroller and completely flattened.

Recently, I recorded Holst’s entire PLANETS SUITE in brand new settings (as evidenced in this track), along with original material inspired by his music and other compositions I feel fit very well in his solar system spanning concept. The album is entitled AD ASTRA (meaning “to the stars”). Look for it in the near future!
